About the Project

The City of Durango's inaugural pickleball courts have been available for play since Tuesday, June 18, as part of recent upgrades to Schneider Park that include a new swing set, picnic tables, artistic bike racks and bench, shade structure, Animas River Trail lighting, and beautiful landscaping ready for your enjoyment.

The courts at 950 Roosa Ave. will open under the following schedule:

  • For Tuesday only, courts will operate under a drop-in system (no reservations needed) between 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • After opening day, courts will operate under a drop-in system from 7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • From 1 p.m. until sunset: Courts will be available under open-court rules where play takes place under a first-come, first-served basis unless a reservation is made.
  • To make a reservation, go to the city's Parks and Recreation website and scroll to "Tennis/Pickleball Court Reservations." Reservations for the Schneider Park pickleball courts cannot be made until Tuesday morning, but normally reservations can be made up to 10 days in advance. Cost is $2 per court per hour.
  • The courts will close at sunset.

As part of the project, staff want to receive feedback from users about their experience while utilizing the myriad of improvements as Schneider Park. This project was funded by the 2005 Sales Tax Fund.
