Construction will be phased over two years, with sidewalk and signal improvements scheduled for 2025, and a mill and overlay, as well as restriping to reconfigure the lanes, in 2026. The construction will include temporary closures of cross streets along both East College Drive and East 8th Avenue and will include closure of a travel lane when sidewalk demolition and construction is occurring.

About the Project
The City of Durango will be implementing a lane reconfiguration, reconfiguring the roadway from 4-lanes to 3-lanes, with an emphasis on accommodating all modes equally, to improve safety and accessibility along College Drive from East 3rd Avenue to East 8th Avenue and along East 8th Avenue from 2nd Street to College Drive. This project includes buffered bike lanes, sidewalk improvements along the corridor, curb ramp improvements, a pedestrian refuge island at East 3rd Street and East 8th Avenue, bus stop improvements including pull-outs, and traffic signal improvements at East College Drive and East 8th Avenue.
Total Project Cost: $5.059 million
Project Grant Funding: Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Grant $779,877, FASTER Grant $300,000, Multi Modal Options Funds (MMOF) $75,000, HB1466 State Funds $406,461, and Local Match Total (2015 and 2019 Half Cent funds): $3,497,662
