Temporary Traffic Signal at Holly/Florida starting 9/30/24

26 September 2024

Since school started, the 3-way stop at Florida Rd and Holly Ave has caused significant traffic backups during the morning rush hour on Florida Road. To address this issue, staff has determined the installation of a temporary traffic signal at this location will help alleviate the backups while still allowing for turning movements off and onto Florida Rd. The signal will be installed and made operational during the week of September 30-October 4. It is anticipated that it will take a week or two to fine-tune the signal timings and coordinate them with the signal at N. College Dr and Florida Rd. Staff will monitor traffic continuously and leave the temporary signal in place until it is determined the signal is no longer needed.

The CR 250/251 project is moving along, installing the curb, gutter, and bike lane now and will begin paving in early October from Holly Ave to E. Animas Village Dr. CR 251 (32nd St) is anticipated to re-open for the winter, but the re-opening dates are dependent on the completion of the paving.
