9/9/24 Holly/Florida Traffic Flow & Project Update

9 September 2024

The City of Durango Public Works Department has been continuing to monitor traffic flows between 32nd St, Holly Ave, and Florida Road during the morning commutes to work and school (6:30 - 8:30am) and afternoon commutes home from work and school (3:30-6:00). While the semi-permanent stop signs at Florida Rd and Holly Ave have helped improve the traffic flow during the afternoon commute, the morning commute is being held up on Florida Rd. The City is aware of the traffic stacking up east to Spring Creek in the mornings and are evaluating several options to the stop signs to allow continuous flow during the morning commute on Florida Rd. The City's weekly Orange Cone Report will have the most up-to-date traffic information. To receive an email with the Orange Cone Report go to the city's news flash notification system and select "City of Durango News Flash."

The CR 250/251 project will soon be moving into paving the section between Holly Ave and E. Animas Village Dr. The plan is to have this section paved before the asphalt plants close around Thanksgiving. If we have a full winter shut-down for construction, CR 251 (32nd St) will reopen to traffic until spring.
